It’s Time for a Spring Cleaning for Your Smile!
March 2, 2023
Now that the weather is getting warmer, there is no better time to give yourself a fresh start. Whether you are deep cleaning your furniture or clearing away some of the clutter in the attic, there is one place you shouldn’t be forgetting about: your smile! Continue reading to learn some tips that can help you give your smile a spring cleaning.
Get a New Toothbrush
Has it been more than three months since you got your toothbrush? If so, it’s time for you to get a new one. If you use an electric toothbrush to clean your teeth, you should be getting a new head for it every 12 weeks. At this point, the bristles have become worn and are no longer effectively cleaning your smile.
Buy More Mouthwash
You regularly check the best-by date for meat, dairy products, and condiments, but you probably haven’t looked at the date listed on your mouthwash. Take a look and ensure that it hasn’t been collecting dust for too long. If it is out of date, throw it out and pick up a new one from the grocery store.
Clear Your Retainer, Aligners, and Nightguard
If you have any sort of appliance that you keep in your mouth, you should be cleaning it when you take It out. Even if you are diligent about cleaning it regularly, you should also complete a deep clean now and then. During this time, soak your cases and give them a good scrub to keep them fresh. This way, you can get rid of any debris and bacteria that have accumulated over time.
Get a Professional Cleaning
It’s best to see your dentist for a cleaning and checkup every six months. During this visit, your hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from your teeth, and your dentist will take a look to ensure that you don’t have any issues that need to be addressed. By attending these appointments regularly, you can prevent future problems from arising.
Clean Your Dentures
Dentures are an excellent restoration for people who are missing most or all of their teeth. If you currently have dentures, you are familiar with the daily cleaning process. However, you should also be taking your dentures to the dental office for a professional cleaning from time to time. During this time, your dentist can check them for damage as well. If you are having any issues with your dentures, now is the time to bring this up.
Spring cleaning is an excellent time to freshen your smile. By using the tips listed above, you can start the season right!
